"How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver!"
-Proverbs 16:16 (NIV)
There's a reason books are almost always better than
their movie counterparts. And as one who struggled to
read, my heart goes out to children who find reading
difficult. There's magic, beauty and hours of enjoyment
within the pages of books but, more importantly,
that magic engages the mind, develops creativity
and empathy, and expands awareness.
As a writer, I of course love creating stories, but it
goes deeper than that for me. Check out my bio page
for the full story. To keep it short here, just know that
reading did not come easily for me. When it did click,
worlds of magic opened up and they stole my heart.
I want to encourage young readers because it's a
tragedy if they can't enjoy a good book.
Plus, as William Blake once said, "What is now proved
was once only imagined." Reading influences science,
belief, compassion...I could have an endless list here,
but I strive to feed the imagination of anyone who
reads my books.
