In my last post, I talked about how interconnected publishing is!
I talked about all the amazing people I’ve met in my life who are now helping me, people I never would have thought to ask before I started this process.
My Editor is just one such person. Originally, I researched editors and reached out to see who I could hire. You can read here how well that went. It felt something like mud in the face while riding my motorcycle. Ouch!
But then I reached out to an English Professor of mine from college who is published. I asked for his advice on the Editor issue. This is where my research failed me and other people amazed me. If I’d been paying attention, I would have realized Mark Todd’s wife was an editor. I knew he was co-authors with his wife but my digging stopped there.
Mark gave me wonderful advice about the type of editing I needed (there are several types), and then went a step further and offered to connect me with his wife, Kym. Tears and much joyous jumping up and down ensued. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t record it. It might have been a bit embarrassing =)
Now The Adventure is edited and I couldn’t be happier with how honest and straightforward and kind Kym is in her work.
Here’s my chance to pay the kindness back.
As I said, Mark and Kym are published authors. Their writing is fun, irreverent and sometimes spooky =)
My first introduction to their books came by way of the Silverville Swindle (Now Little Green Men). (Colorado folks, you might recognize some of the characters in this story and you’ll probably be chuckling at how accurate and irritating some of them are!)
This book is followed by The Magicke Outhouse and All Plucked Up to make up the Silverville Saga.
Then there’s poetry if that’s your style… Wire Song and Tamped, But Loose Enough to Breathe
And there’s a ghost hunting guide in Wild West Ghosts
Like I said, fun, irreverent and sometimes spooky!
Check out Mark Todd and Kym O’Connell-Todd here: Write in the Thick of Things (Word-of-Mouth is the best way to support authors. Pass on their books if you enjoy them!)
Who do you like to read? Please share below. I’m always looking for new stories to get lost in.

(P.S. Thank you, Mark and Kym, for all your support!)
Good job using the resources God has put you in contact with. Karen Witemeyer is a newish author I have enjoyed lately. Christian and amusing love stories.
I’ll have to check her books out. I always love finding new authors to read!
That’s awesome that you happened to have an old connection to the right editor! Thanks for sharing their website! 🙂
Their books are a lot of fun to read =) Plus, if you ever need an extra eye on your work, I highly recommend Kym.
So fun! I don’t think I have anything new that you haven’t read… Need more time for reading!!!
Always need more time for reading! Read any good books lately that I should check out?
Awesome how He connects us with just the right people at just the right time.
I’m continually amazed =)
