Welcome back!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and voted yesterday. I was blown away!
Yesterday started your adventure to Moonrise Mountain. If you missed it, click here. Unfortunately the voting for a choice is done for yesterday, thus this post. But you get to have input on how the story continues! So, read ahead and at the end, post in the comments what choice you’d like to make. Choose wisely, for the world is full of perils!
Moonrise Mountain Option A: Brave the Cave
The wind howls at the mouth of the cave and you can’t see into the forest beyond because of the swirling, crazy snow, so you decide to brave exploring farther into the dark cavern. It at least promises to be dry.
Placing your left hand against the cold stone, you shuffle inside, being careful not to stumble over the uneven ground. The bag of apples bumps your leg as you continue. Loose rocks clatter across the floor when you kick them but you can’t see them in the pitch black.
“Ouch!” A rock, firmly embedded into the ground, stubs your left big toe.
Light flares to life about ten paces ahead. A grizzled old hand holds up a torch and you follow the hand down a bony arm to a scraggly beard surrounding a gap toothed grin.
The old man coughs a laugh.
“Look, Ingrid, I’ve found you a snack,” he says.
There’s a shuffling sound and deep shadows loom behind the old man until they resolve into the heavy white draped shoulders of a snow troll. She’s a brute of a beast with a stout snout and great fangs drooling saliva down her chin. Her big, intelligent eyes tighten into what you guess is a smile.
Those eyes look you up and down like you might be finger licking good.
You shrink against the wall behind you. The mouth of the cave’s not far, you might be able to reach it if you bolt but trolls are fast and Ingrid’s got long powerful legs.
You step cautiously toward the entrance and the bag of apples hits your knee.
Maybe you can offer the old man an apple or two. He seems to be friends with the troll. Maybe he can keep Ingrid from eating you if you make friends with him.
Do you…
Aa. Bolt from the Cave
or
Ab. Offer an apple and hope for the best.
(Please post a comment with your choice. One vote per person per day please but comment as much as you like=) Voting will end at 8pm Mountain Time. Tomorrow I’ll post whichever option gets the most votes and we’ll finish the story on Friday. )
Blessings,
Jennifer
Give him an apple!
mom again – I vote for Ab, also. Maybe can make a new friend and that could lead to some fun!
Hmmm. It’s awesome how many who’ve voted are optimistic!
My first response is to say run away!!! However, I know that my short legs would not get me far. So I say Ab, share the apples and try to make new friends. You never know this may be the beginning a new and wonderful relationship
I totally understand, my legs wouldn’t make it either.
We pick Ab. Give them some apples!
=)
Lets go Ab, my short little legs would never run fast enough!
And I love the “finger licking good” line!
Ab.
Thanks Brandon. Looks like Ab’s the favorite today=)
Ab will be my vote……after who doesn’t like an appetizer!!!
Gotta go with Ab. After all might as well eat an apple myself it could be, ah, the last…
Ah, the world is full of perils=) Might as well enjoy the simple pleasures while you can, eh?
I vote Ab… Yay! This is fun!! I always loved those books! I found one a while back and my older kids like it, too!!!
I still go back sometimes and read the books just for the fun of it. That’s what sparked this idea, actually. Thanks for voting, Chelsea=)
